Thoughts on the Upcoming General Conference from Bishop Ken Carter

The General Conference of our United Methodist Church will be held in Charlotte beginning next week. Significant work will be done by our lay and clergy delegates, who were elected at Annual Conference. Our hope and prayer is that decisions made by this global body will help each local church to more fully offer the grace of Jesus Christ to all of the people who live in our communities.

This letter from Bishop Ken Carter, resident bishop of the Western North Carolina Conference, gives some of the background of the General Conference and is also intended to be an alternative to statements about our church that may be inflammatory or inaccurate.
