Construction Mission Volunteer Coordinator needed in South Carolina (SC) Annual Conference
In October 2015, floods devastated parts of South Carolina, affecting thousands of families across 24 counties. The recovery work will be ongoing for many more months, or even years, to come. The SC Annual Conference is looking for a volunteer to help with the long-term disaster recovery as a Construction Coordinator. This person would be managing basic home repairs, as well as supervising the many volunteer teams that continue to help rebuild this area. Please note the starting date is ASAP but no later than January, 2017 and will last for 2 months up to 12 months.

North Carolina Conference– There is a dire need for one-day work teams to tear out and clean up one house at a time in the Pembroke/Lumberton area. Many houses are literally rotting from continued moisture and heat. Mold and mildew is growing on the walls throughout the houses. Teams must have at least one Early Response Team (ERT) trained leader and be able to give 5-6 hours to do clean out. Please do not travel without making arrangements with the Disaster Response Call Center at 888-440-9167 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
North Carolina Conference (NCC) extended an urgent invitation for WNCC early response (ERT) team assistance beginning in the Lumberton/ greater Robeson County area. (Almost immediately our ERT’s began scheduling with the NCC Disaster Response Call Center to assist NCC in their hour of need.)
The Virginia Conference is requesting trained Early Response Teams to respond to flooding in the Hampton Roads area. Team members must have completed ERT training and have a current badge.

South Georgia requests trained chainsaw teams to help clear debris in Claxton, GA in Evans county, if you could help get the word out. The South GA chainsaw team went this past Thursday-Saturday, and North GA had a team out last week too…still much clearing to be done.

The South Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church has issued an urgent request for early response teams in every Jurisdiction of the United States of America. The ERT leader must be currently trained. The South Carolina Conference will coordinate housing and food but self-sufficient early response teams are needed and welcome too. Early response team leaders are asked to call (800) 390-4911 to schedule your team for the South Carolina Conference.
