The Red Bird Missionary Conference is located in the heart of Appalachia. Clay County Kentucky is one of the poorest areas in the United States and is the center of the ongoing mission work of the United Methodist Church. Red Bird Missionary Conference has been helping this area of Appalachia since 1920. The trip is affordable and flexible and all areas of experience are welcome to participate. The cost is $400 for adults (16 and up) and children are $200. The cost includes housing and food from Sunday evening – Saturday morning. There are all sorts of projects to do from construction to working in the country store at the work camp. The work camp is very organized and well run by Rev. Earl Hampton.
